Preproduction Of My Film Project- Part 2

In my previous preproduction blog, I mentioned what the story is going to be and I described each character in detail, along with the appropriate locations I am going to film in. The only thing I left out is what filming equipment I'll be using.

Filming equipment is crucial, not only in my movie but in any other preproduction phase. Equipment, in this case, can be considered lighting, camera work and something to record audio. Since I am filming a 2-minute movie, I didn't pay attention to having that much professional equipment as real film directors use like DSLR or a light meter.

I tried to figure out how to get the same effect while shooting, even though I lacked professional equipment. So, in this phase, I decided to make a blog of film equipment I'll be using and detailed information about locations I'll be filming in.

Equipment

Camerawork

The camera I'll be using for filming is 'Ursa 4k Digital Camera'. It is my friend's camera, so he taught me how to operate it since this camera is a professional filming camera.

For the majority of my scenes, I needed something stable to keep my camera on because stability in these scenes is crucial. So, I did some research about where can I get the tripod, and it turned out my school had it, so I borrowed it. The tripod I got includes tripod legs, along with the fluid head on top of them and a moving rod where you can do a panning and tilting shot, along with different angles you can adjust.

Tripods are relatively simple tools; well much simpler than Steadicams. They are just sort of standing there, and we assume that it's easy to operate one. But, this actually requires a lot of expertise and practice to use it like a professional. So, I watched the video below to help me manage my shots and make them look as professional as possible.

Furthermore, I'll be using a professional camera that I borrowed. I've informed myself on how these cameras work and what is the easiest way to film the scenes with this type of camera setup.

Lighting and audio

For the lighting, one of the apps I'm using for filming has a great lighting adjuster. Since one of my locations for filming is a bar, the lighting, in this case, is needed. The app I'll be using exclusively for adjusting my lighting is called 'Mavis'.
This app has a variety of advantages, along with its focus and lighting adjuster. The picture below I used as my guide through this app and it has helped me not only with my filter choice, it also has an audio recorder that follows wavelength and on the waveform platform everything is perfectly visible.

The app I'll be using for editing is called 'Filmora9'. This is a professional editing app and this is going to help me insert the title of my movie and help edit all of the scenes.

Locations

As I've already mentioned, I'll be filming in two locations- a bar and a house. For a bar, that is located near my apartment, I decided to ask the owner to use this as my filming spot for 2-3 days the most. He's also accepted my offer to participate in the movie as a bartender.
Regarding the next location, which will be my house, I'll be filming mostly the kitchen and a living room.
Below is a picture of the bar where most of my scenes are going to take place.

Production Of My Film Project- Part 2

 2. PROPS Props were crucial in every scene of the movie. All the way from drinks to the smallest details, like candles on the bar table. In this post,  I'll lead you through my prop list and set design that in this case includes lighting and colour combinations. For two of my characters, Zara and Tom, smoking was important, because that complemented Zara's and Tom's characters. None of the actors are smokers in real life, so I decided to make 'fake cigarettes' based on actors' needs. I filled cigarette filters with dried parsley that is more or less healthy and has the same burning effect as real cigarettes. Here's the video tutorial that I've followed:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZFyN43HEC4s&t=45s The drinks that each of my characters drank were fake. For example, the beer, that Harry drank, was apple juice that was in a beer bottle. This made the character look reckless and manly. Zara drank Gin tonic, which was mineral water with ice in it. ...

The Social Dilemma- Case Study

It comes as no secret that technology has changed our lives. It hasn't only made communication easier, it has also influenced society with a variety of streaming apps, dating services and sharing abilities. But, under one condition, as long as we stay connected they are going to provide whatever we want while browsing. But, what if I were to tell you that technology can possibly predict our personalities, and essentially know us better than your family and friends do. This is fascinating and terrifying at the same time. In the advancing world of technology that stores enormous amounts of data for each user, so apps like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and other big companies can collect information about you through things that you browsed or what you've liked for the past few weeks.  The people have started to wake up with terror after watching the new Netflix's documentary, 'The Social Dilemma'. After watching this film, it felt quite scary opening your phone to brow...
