The Script

Preproduction of My Film Project- Script

The last part of my preproduction phase is a script and a storyboard. I wanted to make the story interesting and intriguing to the viewers, so I made a decision to spice up my character's lines in the film. The script: Boundless script The app that I've used for my scriptwriting is called 'Celtx'. This app has a variety of functions and makes your screenwriting format believable and better for your actors to read and know what to do. Below is what my display looked like while writing my script. As you can see we have a special font and display of each one of the lines, it depends is it an action, a new character or a transition.  What I've learned is if there's a change of location in the movie script, this is shown with the blue horizontal line describing INT. or EXT. of the location. In my case, I've used the interior of the bar in the late afternoon (what part of the day is it filmed in). The order that it goes in is INT/EXT-PLACE-TIME. Furthermore, the ...

Storyboard

The storyboard was crucial for this film. Putting all of the camera movements and characters actions together made my camerawork easier. This has helped me visualise where my camera should be placed during that scene or where my actors should be when filming. I separated each scene in the camera movement and action of each character. I tried to sketch my drawings as best as I could. I used the application Boords to create my storyboard and have included screenshots of each frame below. I selected pictures that are similar to what my scene is supposed to look like. I will also leave my log in details if you would like to access the storyboard in the app: https://app.boords.com/storyboards/yzpyvp-boundless   Email address: mbmimika04@gmail.com Password: Mia2020!! Moodboard

For the project one of my ideas was to create a moodboard where I would represent the aesthetics of the film, not only the beginning filmed sequence but what the atmosphere should convey throughout the movie. The picture below shows the moodboard, that was made in a programme called Canva. The below picture includes signs and the conventions of what the story should be about. For example, shades of brown, black and red indicate the danger and darkness, and twisted atmosphere which again establishes my idea of doing a psychological thriller. Furthermore, quotes that I've included is what the action is about, along with the blood, pills and brain, which are all connotating the unstable vibe in the plot.  A closer look at this link: MyMoodboard

Preproduction Of My Film Project- Part 2

In my previous preproduction blog, I mentioned what the story is going to be and I described each character in detail, along with the appropriate locations I am going to film in. The only thing I left out is what filming equipment I'll be using.  Filming equipment is crucial, not only in my movie but in any other preproduction phase. Equipment, in this case, can be considered lighting, camera work and something to record audio. Since I am filming a 2-minute movie, I didn't pay attention to having that much professional equipment as real film directors use like DSLR or a light meter.  I tried to figure out how to get the same effect while shooting, even though I lacked professional equipment. So, in this phase, I decided to make a blog of film equipment I'll be using and detailed information about locations I'll be filming in. Equipment Camerawork The camera I'll be using for filming is 'Ursa 4k Digital Camera'. It is my friend's camera, so he taught me h...
