Preliminary exercise- Animated movie

For practice, I decided to make a 1-minute animated movie which was overall complicated to make, even though it was animated. The toughest part of the process was editing and making your own characters come to life. As I was making the movie I realised how long I needed to make this (3 days), which truly surprised me, because my expectations were that I am going to need maximum 4 hours to make this. But, I was wrong, because I didn't realise how long the editing process actually takes. -This is how my editing display looked like, including music choice and special effects (foleys) that were added later on. -The picture below is how I got the complete overview of the scenes and also this is how I tracked my progress of the overall final movie product. -Finally, this is how it turned out, and since it's my first short movie, I am really amazed how all of the scenes and movements of the characters got along. What's the final conclusion? All in all, the genre is now part of how...

Research Into Genre

Introduction   Genre....very common word in the language of filmmakers and film lovers. As teenagers, we already know about the genre, but it wasn't until I took Media Studies classes and learned to look at everything through a digital lens- a camera lens and see the bigger picture. The ability to understand what 'genre theory' is seems straight forward, yet is pretty complex. Talking about the basics, we know James Bond films are action movies. So, here is a brief introduction to 'genre theory' is and how it is used by directors in the film industry. What is meant by 'Genre' in the film industry? Straightforwardly, the genre is a category of the media type. It is the concept used in film studies, as well as Media Studies, to describe similarities between gro...

My First Blog Post

Hi, I'm Mia! Welcome to my first blog post! Out of all the excitement and curiosity, I finally decided to write a blog and share all of the amazing things that have been happening to me for the last few weeks and my latest decisions for the new school year. But first, let me share a little about myself. My name is Mia, and I'm a year 12 student at the British International School of Zagreb. I live with my family in a flat and have a younger brother.  Considering my hobbies, I enjoy reading books – mostly fiction – and I especially love the horror genre. I also love watching films, and the best part of these two hobbies is that they are linked together. While reading a book, readers can create images in their head and think of their own ending of the book, and when watching films, you can predict what is going to happen or make your own ending, and that is what makes it great. When I was a little girl, I was always asking myself the same question 'How do directors/filmmakers...
